Holden Caulfield/ The Catcher in the Rye
- he cares about people even though it seems he doesn't
- seems like he's been through stuff, has a past
- straighforward and blunt
- describes the school as rich kid school and people are thieves
- Holden seems to judge people from afar, doesn't make him vulnerable
- repeats how cold the place is, feels alone
- Holden is insecure, doesn't know if people like him even though they tell him they do
- doesn't like relying on other people/needing them
- doesn't like weakness or vulnerability
- Holden dislikes phony things
- spencer declaring his authority by calling his dresser 'chiffonier' which is an old term
- Holden tries to make himself feel bette
