Masterpiece-Basics
(Steps of Making a Movie)

PRE-PRODUCTION

During this stage, the movie is planned. The scripts should be written, cast is picked out, and location is set. The ideas are set into different scenes. A detailed schedule is produced and arrangements are made for the necessary elements or people to be available to the film-makers at the appropriate times.

PRODUCTION

People start filming the scenes that were produced during pre-production. They are filmed as many times as the director feels is necessary to fit into the movie. It is important for the scenes to be filmed perfectly for the editing done in post-production.

POST-PRODUCTION
Firstly, the editors do a "rough cut" on the movie. They select and order the best shots done during the production. Then, the create a fine cut by getting all the shots to flow smoothly into the planned story. After, they trim the selected scenes and add music, special effects, and menus. Then the movie is produced and shown in theaters or made into DVD's
