Masterpiece: Film Industry- Donnie Darko
This post might seem a little scattered, but just bare with me. I'm thinking out loud about what specific jobs that interest me in the film industry.
Recently I've watched a movie called "Donnie Darko," which according to the internet is a Sci-Fi thriller film.I think that is an understatement. According to me it's film that is hard to put into one genre, for it has Sci-Fi connotations, but it's also a coming of age story and a psychological thriller (This is important to me because psychology would probably be my Plan B job.) This movie has left such an impression on me. I've watched it about a week ago and I still cannot get it out of my brain. I've also done lots of research on it, just for fun, and thought I should use it to my benefit. I picked this film because it has inspired me to think about particular possibilities of different operations I can pick for my future. I will also be using examples from the movie.
Casting Director
Casting is a very important concept in movies. When picking actors, it is important that the audience cannot see anyone else playing the part. I noticed in "Donnie Darko" they picked Jake Gyllenhaal to play the the main character, Donnie. Throughout the movie, I've carefully watched Gyllenhaal and his acting. He was an excellent choice for this part and I can't see anyone else playing the part, which is what casting directors should go for.
Another actor who can't be replaced is Drew Barrymore, who played Donnie's favorite teacher. She was incredible for this role because other than her outstanding acting, her fame brought publicity to the movie.
Casting leaves a big impression on the audiences of movies and is one concept I could see myself doing in the future.
Acting
I basically described why the actors are important in movies under "Casting Director." The actors have one of the biggest impact on movies. I feel as acting is a passion of mine.
Music Director
The music behind every scene in a movie sets the mood. "Donnie Darko" has a very popular soundtrack which is rare for movies like this. The song that has left the biggest impression on me was "Mad World" by Gary Jules which appeared at the end of the film. The scene itself was sad, but with the song it made it a lot more depressing. This inspired me because music is another one of my passions. Putting together film and music as a career would almost be too good to be true.

In conclusion, I just thought I would relate my masterpiece to an inspiring movie so it would clear up exactly what I want to do. I might add on to this later but for now, I want to give you homework... Whenever you have free time watch the film "Donnie Darko." While you're watching it, think of all the different aspects I stated in this post. When you're done watching it, read this post again! See if you agree with me.
