Falacies in Media
1) Ad Hominem- Attacking someone's character instead of stating facts about the argument.

2) Straw Man-  Putting words into someone's mouth or making an imaginary person up.

3) Slippery Slope- "Give a little bit will lead to having to give a lot."

 4) Non Sequitur- Argument doesn't follow.

5) Red Herring- irrelevant facts that distracts the subject

6) Appeals to Nature- Instead of stating facts, they state values.

7) You Too- Does something someone else does too & uses that as an argument/ two wrongs don't make a right
8) Circular Reasoning- Someone argues the point they’re trying to make by supporting it with other reasons that are supported by their original point.
9) Ad Nauseam- Making the argument by repetition; saying the same thing over and over again.

10) Appeal to tradition- "That's how it has always been"
11) Appeal to ignorance- Arguing something is true just because it hasn't been proven false.

12) Appeal to Numbers- Citing statistics to prove an argument.

13)Appeal to Popularity- “All the cool kids are doing it.”

14) Cum Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc- “with this because of this” – just because two things happen together doesn’t mean they’re related or one causes the other. (e.g., just because a student attends RHS doesn’t mean she has two legs)

15) Post Hoc Ergo Propter Hoc- just because something happens after something else doesn’t mean the first thing causes the second.

16) Appeal to Authority- the fallacy of asserting an idea as correct just because a person/entity in power says it is.
